Mecklenburg County Public Health’s Edible Landscapes  initiative  will celebrate a major milestone this weekend in its work to improve access to healthy, locally grown food across the county. 

New all-terrain wheelchairs (ATWs) will soon be available to residents with disabilities that limit their access to greenways, trails and other outdoor environments.  

Friday, Nov. 15 is America Recycles Day, a nationwide campaign to spotlight the importance of recycling and increase awareness of ways to reduce waste.  

Mecklenburg County Veterans Services Division has been selected as the Veterans Bridge Home Janene Stewart McGee Provider of the Year. 

This week Public Health launches its mobile dental program to provide oral health screenings to preschoolers. The much-anticipated mobile unit has three operatories fully equipped to serve clients for dental needs, much like at a dental office. The mobile unit is also equipped with an X-ray imaging device. 

Voluntary buyouts and retroFIT (Floodproofing Improvements Together) grants are now available to property owners near Mountain Island Lake whose homes were damaged or destroyed during Hurricane Helene.  

The deadline is quickly approaching for homeowners to apply for economic assistance grant funding through the Helping Out Mecklenburg homeowners with Economic Support program (HOMES).

Monday, Nov. 11, is a day to honor veterans and their families. To demonstrate its support on Veterans Day, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community is invited to shine a green light at home to recognize the service and sacrifice of our veterans.

Mecklenburg County offices and services will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, for the Veterans Day holiday.
